Commodore’s Message – Ben Murphy – 2016
Hello Fellow BYC Members:
Welcome to the 2016 boating season!! This year the Barrie Yacht Club celebrates its 64th anniversary and it’s with great pleasure that I serve as Commodore for 2016.
This off season has been quite challenging for the BYC Directors and Members alike. We have undertaken a major construction project to ensure the integrity of the west harbor wall and I thank all Directors and the Membership for their cooperation and patience during this time. There is still some work to do in order to restore the club grounds but we can all look forward to enjoying further improvements to the property.
As we are a club which heavily relies on volunteers, I must thank all members who take the time to help out. It is this cooperative effort that allows us all to enjoy everything the BYC has to offer and keeps our club running efficiently.
This season is sure to be full of wonderful social and sailing events so keep an eye on the events calendar to be sure not to miss out on any of the fun.
I often reflect on how fortunate we are to have access to such a wonderful “slice of paradise” on the north shore of Kempenfelt Bay. Whether it is racing, cruising or simply enjoying social time with family and friends that draw you to the Club; I wish you all a safe and happy 2016 season.
“May the four winds blow you safely home” – R. Hunter
