Racing at BYC

Home 9 Race

The BYC has a long history of racing on Lake Simcoe. From dinghies to keelboats, PHRF and one design, BYC members actively participate in the racing season from early May to the end of September for trophies and notoriety.  With our regular club racing and an active weekend regatta schedule,  including the Lake Simcoe Interclub Series (LSIS), there is something for everyone at the BYC.

From novice to advanced racers who have sailed the world’s most famous waterways, racing helps develop our members skills and abilities while introducing the love of the sport to crew members who often become members or purchase their own boat.

Dinghy Racing

Monday Nights are for dinghy racing for novice to experienced racers.

Club Series Keelboat Racing

Every Wednesday from May to September members and crew head out for an evening of fun and friendly competition in white sail and spinnaker races. The fleet is PHRF rated and …

Regattas

Weekends are reserved for regattas. Members and crew enjoy the best of Lake Simcoe competing in races that pay tribute to our rich history. The Women at the Helm Regatta is the highlight of the season and raises funds for local charities and has a legendary party.

Crew

The greatest pleasure in sailing comes from the ability to participate. Crew members are the lifeblood of any racing team and many of our members welcome novice to experienced sailors to learn and groom their skills aboard their boats. Wednesday nights and weekend regattas are best to crew.

If you are interested in racing with a BYC member as crew, contact us.

Crew mates do not have to be members to participate, but we encourage crew to apply for a social or associate membership to enjoy club life.
